More Time with AhMa and Grandpa

Surf's Up!

For Halloween this year, Danny was a surfer, complete with cardboard surfboard. He didn't quite get the concept of Trick or Treating. He went to one house and said "Trick Treat". When he saw the candy the lady put in his bucket, he started jumping around saying "Candy! Candy!" and completely forgot to say "thank you". He only went to that one house.

"I can even do tricks!"

"Catch a wave, dude!"

Danny, Duplos, & Hummus

Danny continues to amaze and delight us with his growing repertoire of words and abilities. Today, he tried to repeat a knock knock joke he heard on Backyardigans. It goes something like. "Knock knock. Who? Orange." He has also been incredibly upset every time he pees- crying "pee pee" and walking along like he has a balloon between his knees. Or he rips his diaper off and starts running away from us. (Thus the naked baby picture above). Guess that means we really need to start potty training. He continues to spend most of his day playing with duplos- especially his Percy the train. Yesterday he built this "ship". Pretty awesome for a just turned 2 year old.

Danny also loves "dip dip"- any kind of dip, but mostly ketchup and soy sauce. This morning he had some hummus and crackers for breakfast (addmittadly not what I would eat, but it worked for him). I think he would have eaten more if he hadn't been so upset by the mess he made.

Danny's Birthday Party

After a full day at a craft fair, we held Danny's 2nd Birthday party! We had a few families over- all of Danny's favorite friends. We had BBQ and Pancit (traditional Filipino noodles). I made "Thomas" cake, which was quite the ordeal. It was low key, but a lot of fun for everyone- especially Danny.

Danny with Lolo and Lola

Paul's parents flew down for the weekend for a visit. Lola hadn't seen Danny for 6 months, so the visit was long over due. Danny sure had fun playing with them.

Doing exercises with Lola.

Tuckered out from playing. What a comfy place to lay.

Danny Turns 2!

We can't believe we've survived two years with Danny! He is a bundle of energy and all boy. Danny loves to bounce, jump and race. He counts to two (sometimes three) and knows colors (most of the time). He sings along to the Thomas the Tank engine theme song, Backyardigans, and a few other misc. songs. He prays at meals and before bed (today at lunch he thanked God for Hulk). He and Paul make elaborate duplo creations, especially trains and space ships. At night he says "sing, Mama" and when I send him off with Paul so I can do homework he says "Mama, coming".

Danny is a joy to watch as he grows and learns. He is our love and most precious gift.

He also loves Play-doh and coloring. :)

Zoo Time

Danny and I took a trip to the zoo with our Moms and Tots group from church. Danny loved seeing the animals that he knows from his books. We even got to see the month old "giraffy".

A boat in the Northwest Passage.

Looking at a monkey through the glass. Which is the monkey? You decide.

Finally... an update

Danny and I took a quick trip to to Chicago to visit Ah-Ma, Papa, and Uh-Ben. We enjoyed the relaxing visit.

We have been very busy around here. My two classes keep me reading (as much as possible) and I have started to do Spa Escapes by BeautiControl (an awesome and fun business). Danny is quickly approaching 2- and all the craziness that goes with it. Right now he loves trains- especially Thomas and James (he can even say "cheeky" which is in the theme song), Lilo and Stich (including doing the hula), and can play with duplos for hours. He and Paul have been spending a lot of time together since I'm in class, doing homework, and running spas. They sure do have a lot of fun together. They even play swords.

This is one of our neighborhood strays. Danny likes seeing all the cats around, and they seem to have adopted our back yard as a litter box. Hmmm...

Danny is the Cutest!

Danny loves playing Guitar Hero. He's such a rock star.

Danny has taken to hiding behind the couch in the corner and taking "naps" with Stitch (his current favorite movie).

Nursing Stitch. He even nursed both sides. He still doesn't quite get the difference between girls and boys.

Danny carefully arranged Pooh and Stitch on the couch with him. He even flashed me a beautiful smile.

Around the House

Here are some more pictures of our lovely new house.

The living room. There are stairs to the extra bedrooms and bath. Our bedroom is to the right.

Danny's play area. It's between the living room and kitchen. Perfect to keep an eye on him while I make dinner.

Our kitchen and dining room. It's actually the last room with boxes in it. So we're almost moved in.

Our backyard is quite a jungle! There's been lots of rain, and we're still getting a hang of the whole "yard work" thing. Good thing Danny loves to mow.

World Breastfeeding Week

A few weeks ago, I helped to organize a Family picnic to celebrate World Breastfeeding Week. I also headed up a fund-raiser raffle. The picnic was a lot of fun- almost 30 people. Not too bad for the first year we did this (and how last minute it was). The raffle was great- a number of business and friends donated some great items. We're already looking forward to next year so we can make it bigger and better!
